Well, I'm finding more and more cool things to do with DotNetNuke playing around with some skin ideas, that incorporate the very nicely designed 3 skins. (I must say that working with them is quite lovely.)  I'm trying to create some skins that don't look much like dnn and that's a bit hard because the menu is a bit of a giveaway, but there are elements of design you can apply to make it look less like DNN. EG, I've got a client who's put his ideas down on a piece of paper, and I'm wondering what modules/effects/skin layout I'm going to use to get this working.. and it really dawned on me as I was driving home from their office I don't think anything but DNN when doing sites.. I had to make changes to another client's site a little while ago - and wow, I felt it was like stepping back into the dark ages..  I also thought that Kirsty  - who has been working with me for nearly a year, has learnt only DNN.  Html, CSS, XML, bit of photoshop (for simple structured work) and working with the modules.  It made me think it was a leap of faith last year, to not put her in front of html 4 books and say work on these static html pages.. or create ranges of buttons and mouseovers, and just stuff that is in my opinion, not required for DotNetNuke.

I find there are some hidden gems and goodies with DNN that I didn't know were possible and am looking more at the xml functions that can be applied to many areas and I don't think they are all documented.

I've been looking at the skinning structure of 3 and will make an effort to have them converted back to html and xml files for people to learn from, but it's not a huge priority today.

I am finishing a client's job at the moment - we're taking a brandnew business, online only and have put together a shopping cart, and google ad words, amazon stuff and other referral links that help him track activity and although on DNN2.1.2, it's still a great site.

I've also been taking alot of my current work and porting into the new skin layout structure so that there is consistency in how the information is layed out and I'm very happy with the overall results. It's like it's been a good standard set for skinning. Sure there are some glitches still, but we're ironing those out and I would expect I'll have an area on my site that will address some of the shortcomings that may be found find from time to time, and add some patches/fixes and enchances for registered users.

All in all, seems to have ironed out the annoying little glitches on the server, isolated some of the sites, and maybe can go to bed a night when I want to and not after spending hours looking at the log files, event ID's, researching google and bugging others to find out why things happen like they do.

I am excited to say that the PA had a going over by one of the developers today to double check that it's ok - and I'm going to be contacting everyone who has made enquiries and letting them know it will be for sale.  I had to modify the help docs, but primarily, there is a little bit of back and forth in getting things setup.  The module is really good and I am now confident to put it out for sale.  I will be doing that on Saturday my time, so that's Friday night for others. I'm going out on Saturday and I've had such little time off lately but tomorrow we're doing work on my servers, and I'm picking up a new backup server and a resource library for all my files.  One thing DNN does do, is create lots and lots of files.

So that wraps up my talk for the day and I'll catch you some time tomorrow!
