I did a video last year which I am pretty sure is still relevant, but for those who don't know, or are new to skinning their DotNetNuke website, this video explains in plain English, how to install skins and how DotNetNuke works with the permissions and where it hides these little suckers..
It's not really designed to teach you how to skin - I've got lots of FREE SKINS on various sites that let you view the code, and hopefully learn something, but it does show you how, if you're new to DotNetNuke and have no idea where on earth things are, or why you see something and then you don't. And if you want to learn about skinning you can subscribe to SkinCovered.com/" target="_blank" title="SkinCovered - Learn Skinning">SkinCovered with heaps of free skins and code to help you get started.
While I've been told there are too many options for people, I've found that over time, there are many quirks about DotNetNuke that you learn to live with, and appreciate. It's like any application - you need to take the time to see what it has to offer and then master it.
But I have a few videos and help files on my site at XD where, as a registered user, you can log in and
I found there isn't enough information on many things, except Microsoft Developer Tools - wow, there are dvds of help and plenty of online information, but when you're talking about an open source project, is there ever really going to be enough information around for the hungry users? I think not.
Well, I've been testing this very cool blogging tool - from window live and will see how it goes when I click the 'publish' button - Do I need to go in and tweak it further. >>> Yes I do - it doesn't publish the small 'summary' .. never mind, it's good for what it does.
