I think I recognise some of the styles but found there were only two with any comments by who they were, so I have left them intact. For the records, this is not to make money from, but to assist those who are newcomers to DotNetNuke to have success with all areas of skinning their site. It's so easy to assume that everyone knows the differences between DNN1, DNN2 & DNN3 skins and container management.
On my new site which is underway- will be articles and forums on how to do these things. It's very exciting.. I've had to invest in Naturally Speaking Dragon thing so I can talk rather than type. And I've got some new small quick screen recording apps that help me speed things up. I'm really looking forward to getting this all live, and fingers crossed, this weekend!
For those who have purchased my tutorials, there are a few extras for you to say thanks for your support. We're working in different ways - DNN2 & DNN3 and incorporating Snapsis, and looks like Armand (Nokiko) master of CSS will be managing a CSS forum and column and our newsletters will be starting to take off as well.
Because I have so much information I wish to share with you so the format unless advised otherwise will be -
News and DotNetNuke Information in General, Free Skins & Containers will always come from XD.com.au. Module Developers, Module Reviews, Developer Information, General information in the way DotNetNuke works will come from here as well.
Skins, Modules, Containers for sale, will be on the new skinning site, There will be No Free Skins there. It's too confusing, and because I chose to move to 3, I felt that having a domain that was relevant for skinning, would be more sensible than having everything on XD.
I may choose to allow other designers who skin to be able to sell from my site, however, I'm fussy, difficult and will be very demanding on the quality and integrity of people who want to venture into the skinning business.
I'm so excited.. I dream about this - because for once I can see that it's coming together. It's so important for me to maintain ongoing support for the DotNetNuke community and help the standards improve by offering quality, relevant and easy to follow information. Now that I have so many examples / free skins I can take them apart and explain / enhance and inspire others. My firm belief is that access to great technology is not for the priviledged few who have huge budgets, but part of a growing cycle of change in how business is done, today and in the future. Without the support and knowledge base we have, we couldn't move forward like the last few months have seen DotNetNuke do.
I'd like to earn a few dollars out of this eventually - so my skinning store I hope will be a source of some income, so that I can continue to put in as many hours as I do and not actually go broke in the mean time. Currently I would spend about 40 hours Plus per week doing community/non paid work, a very long week, every week, learning, helping, advising those around me and sometimes I'm slower in responding than I'd like to be, because it's a struggle when I'm also finishing existing work, but no one is forgotton... and I will get every single job done. If you have problems emailing me.. as I am experiencing persistent challenges with some clients in NL & UK, please email. talk to people on MSN that I cannot email, crazy isn't it!!
So there you have it.. My darling Andrew put in a new bath for me today...well, over the weekend, moved the fashionable but stupid laundry out of the bathroom, put a new bath back in and that's what I'm about to do - have soak in the tub and just chill out for the next hour or so... I wish I didn't have to sleep sometimes.. there is so much to do. But I love my hot bath and relaxing time.. we've been living here for 6 months and I really missed it... so I'm lucky that Andrew thinks of me so much!
Kirsty is such a terrific help - the containers and snapsis skins have been a learning curve.. from someone who didn't have much to do with computers just 12 months ago, she's now able to train others, setup sites, manage email and that's great! 19 on Monday... such a great age don't you think.
After I've had a relax.. I'll zip up the containers - I've called it XD2Containerama and XD3Containerama - All in one handy folder.. no CSS, just html, but that's how it is for nothing!
Cheers and thanks for dropping in..
