Dang it's great to have a glass of champagne in hand, a fresh download provided by another core team member, for me to bug test (I take their comment of *nina you are really good at breaking things* as being a compliment!!)
Well, I have a download, that I will be installing for the 100 or so enquiries for test platforms. Ok, there is a limitation - the FTB (free text box editor) isn't working as it should.. but again, you get this mouthwatering excitement as you click those *edit* links ... and then .. it's stolen from you in just a mouse click... because there is a JS error.
That's the thing about beta testing - patience is required.. to the enth degree and I have had to reluctanctly hold off from launching these demo sites as there were fundamental updates that were required, but I'm feeling confident now, that I can go forth and create the MultiLingual portals, forums and more to help those who are looking at creating a non english speaking portal where possible.
Today I had a wonderful end to the week - Yesterday I successfully did a transaction with the National Australia Bank (not my bank, but next week will be) for the payment gateway for the Catalook shopping cart.
Let me tell you when I started on this venture - JANUARY 2004 - did you read that .. JANUARY 2004.. and I'm patient.. (you need to be with DotNetNuke - or any opensource technology) and to see an Australian payment gateway in the Catalook shopping cart gave me such inspiration and excitement. Tomorrow I meet up with one of my fantastic developers, he's written the API and it looks like any Payment Gateway, we can handle as he's into those algorithim thingys with lots of foreign encrypted numbers... I am excited.
And.. today - well, on Wednesday I gave one of my other developers the go ahead on a project. Only very small, but VERY important for client to resolve and their previous developer had told them it wasn't possible... or would cost them thousands.... wow oh wow, today I had the phone call talking me through the project and it's was perfect... To me, it's been 2 years of looking for the right people to work with and very proud to say that I've got some very talented people to turn to, which means that no longer will I have to wait in despair to get things working because I can't code...
And my email marketing software - clients are very happpy - have sent over 130,000 email in last couple of weeks.. and the results have been very good.
Tonight - I'm going to go to bed before midnight - that's another exciting reason to be happy! I spend literally all my waking time online here, between looking after my family and stuff like that.. and cooking, and cleaning... and thinking... .. and I am thrilled with what's happening with DNN.
OH.. and of course - converted most of my skins to DNN3 which is great, and will take snapshots over the weekend and compile a small but modest file to explain how it works because it's been an education process..
So there you have it.. Today I listened to the following music Sam Cooke - favourite song - I love you for senitmental reasons Bruce Hornsby -Halcycon Days Best of 1950's - those were great days.
And .. I found my cool Christmast Tunes - so Nina will be playing those songs over the next few weeks.
Did I mention Cute Editor V4 is out and I've been trying that too.. And.. my newsletters.. on hold until I get the bug testing for DNN 3 out.
SO ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE BOOKED THEIR DEMO/BETA VERSION - TOMORROW WE'RE ON!! And the languages portals will be setup.
Long Blog - lots to say- thanks for reading and showing interest.. I wish I could work faster and make more people happy. I'll send out a short, quick email over weekend. Nina Meiers
