The countdown is on and I have to get as much into the vault as possible and see there have been some really big builds going through including several fixes from Gemini. I think Shawn Mehaffie works hard at keeping Gemini up to date as possible, but I know for my self, I've still got things I need to check in but leaving things to last minute to see that there are no really significant changes to the code that might affect what I'm doing.
There has been a fairi bit of discussion regarding portability, parsing of css files and how the skins behave when uploaded and I'm going to investigate the behaviour as I wrap up and finalise my efforts in this round. I feel like we're going to get closure soon and it's going to be strange for a while as most of the time I've been involved in DNN core team work has been for DNN3.
Anyway, I found some cool features that have been changed and taken into consideration to make adding modules to your page quicker and more intuitive. I didn't realise that the FAQ's have also been enhanced so much.
Armand (Nokiko) told me of a very cool module - that allows enormous strengths in form building and he says it even lets you render dnn sql information to a non dnn site - not sure how all this works. Haven't looked in detail but will be looking tonight - after other work is done.
And we're working through the functionality specs on Catalook - there are two of us tackling it, and wow, I think this one is a winner.. I asked Susanne if it was possible to move the cart images out of the root folder so it wasn't mixed up with the site images .. and now, not only is that possible, but you can choose a different folder for each category and product.. This is great.
Then, I've notice that when you go to email a friend - the option to allow editing the text now gives you further power over how you display images.
Found a couple of small bugs and will screen shot and send to Catalook but we've now confirmed, our new skinstore will be running on Catalook, in time for the launch of DNN3 Release Candidate (although I haven't got an EXACT DATE) which drives me mad a bit, I'm reading between the lines here and thinking that it's got to be very soon.
I noticed there is an articles module as well - by efficon consulting - will install that and give an overview - and tomorrow .. yes I know I've already said this before, but I will have the new skins online. I realy wanted this cool skinning file I'd done to be ready before I send out an email and before I have the skins ready but it's not happening so I'll have to accept it's still work in progress..
DNN Rocks - For those who don't think so - Well I heard a great saying - it went like this - Never argue with an idiot, they will beat with exerience every time.. I see the final touches being put into this release and I'm so sure that the wait will have been worth every single moment.
Catch you later.
